Alan Bennett

Alan has over 25 years of various ceramics business activities including: undergraduate and graduate teaching at Utah State University, operating his own successful ceramics business since 1989, head designer and ceramics engineer in high temperature stoneware factory in Jalisco, Mexico and an art instructor at Rancho Santiago College.

Alan’s work focuses mainly on ceramic aquatic life that can be functional and non-functional.  He uses raku, crystalline, copper-reds, lichen glazes. Alan sells his pieces both retail and wholesale.

1987 – 1990      Art instructor, Mercer County Community College, Trenton, New Jersey

1985 – 1987      Head designer and Ceramics Engineer, El Palomar, Jalisco, Mexico

Alan designed new lines of dinnerware for Japan, Europe and North America.  He also solved technical problems and developed new slips and unleaded glazes.  Alan also implemented a safer working environment for 100 employees.

1984 – 1985      Art Instructor, Rancho Santiago College, Santa Ana, California. 

Alan taught life sculpture, life drawing and basic studio art courses.

1980 – 1984      Ceramics Instructor, Utah State University, Logan, Utah. 

Alan taught undergraduate and graduate ceramics courses covering numerous topics including glazes and clay calculation, kiln building and drawing.
