Wander up the paths and through the gardens at Cedar Creek. Artists will be
holding demonstrations throughout the day in their on-site studios. Visit the nursery for a great selection
of spring plants and herbs, relax at any one of our seating areas sprinkled thoughout the grounds.
Don't forget to visit the gallery for a unique one stop shopping experience.
We represent more than 200 local, regional and national artists and your purchase
can be boxed, wrapped and shipped anywhere in the United States.
Cedar Creek Gallery is a destination! We stand apart from other area craft galleries in that much of
our work is made on the premises. Opening as a studio space and shop for two potters in 1968,
we have since grown to showcase the work of more than twelve on-site potters, glass blowers and jewelers as well as more than 200 American craftspeople. Each of these artisans own their own small business making pottery, blown glass, jewelry and other fine craft.
It is truly fascinating to watch and learn what you can as you watch these crafts being made.
On a daily basis, the artists spend much of their time quietly working alone in their studios.
While the creative process often requires a certain amount of solitude and focus,
we understand the public's curiosity and we respond to many requests to see the artists working.
The Pottery and Glass Festival is held twice per year, in early April and early October.
These events begin with a Preview Opening on the first Friday of these months and then continue during the following two Saturdays and Sundays. This is a great time for people to see the artists as
they work and explain their creative process. Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the days
and one can find interesting inspiration all day long.
We will also have live music and a food truck onsite for lunch during special openings and festivals!
For specific demonstration times and dates for the 44th Annual Spring Pottery and Glass Festival,

Gallery Spotlight - March
Mark Fitzgerald
Potter
~ Pennsylvania ~

Each month in 2012, Cedar Creek Gallery will highlight one artist or craftspersons' work in the front room or another premier location.
This gives our customers a chance to see the highest volume of work by that artist as it is brought into the retail space.
It will also keep the space rotating its stock so that the displays will retain a fresh and exciting look. We hope you will like this new feature.
Mark began his work as a potter in 1972 and spent four years in Port Chester, N.Y. at the Clay Art Center developing production skills.
Now working as a full time studio potter in Dillsburg, York County, Pa, he is shown extensively in fine craft shops and galleries throughout the United States as well as being showcased at many Contemporary Craft Shows.
Feel the earthy texture and look at the nuance of color in each unique piece of high quality stoneware. Every piece is individually handcrafted and masterfully glazed to create a genuine original.
Mark and Huynh Mai make functional stoneware such as platters, casseroles and baking dishes. They make fine items for your kitchen and great gifts for your friends and family.

Laurie Shaman
Ceramic Artist
~ Illinois ~
The time I spend on my artwork can be divided into two phases:
I first research for the imagery. This may include sketching in the studio from books and
accumulated source materials such as photos, postcards and memorabilia from experiences such as travels and theater performances. Museum and gallery visits, books on mythology, architecture, animals and, on occasion, a live model may influencethe imagery in my artwork.
In the second phase, I handbuild the ceramic vessels or wall forms most often using earthenware or porcelain slabs. The size, shape and contours vary with each body of work and suggest to me the possibilities of embellishment. The imagery, applied in either a random or deliberate way, produces a kind of lyrical narrative that usually involves some combination of figure, animal, architecture and landscape.
It is my hope that the shapes of the ceramic vessels, together with the surface imagery,
will convey both classical and contemporary sensibilities.
