43rd Annual Spring Pottery & Glass Festival
Friday Night Preview, April 1, 6pm – 10pm
Saturday & Sunday, April 2 & 3, 10am – 6pm
Saturday & Sunday, April 9 & 10, 10am – 6pm

Dear Friends of Cedar Creek,

Please join us the first two weekends of April for our 43rd Annual Spring Pottery and Glass Festival. The gallery will be open until 10pm Friday, April 1st for the opening of A Woman's Perspective: Sculpting the Feminine Form. Saturday and Sunday (2nd and 3rd, 9th and 10th) as usual, there will be live music, great craft demonstrations, open studios and the finest quality American craft for purchase in our Gallery.

Spring is definitely in the air and it is evident by the fresh new work everywhere we look. It's been especially thrilling to see my mom, Pat Oakley in the studio making pots again. Some of her pieces will be available Friday night, while others will come hot out of the kilns during the festival. She won't promise how long she will continue making pots, so if you've ever wanted one, now is the time. We are pleased to welcome Sandra McEwen, a silversmith working in Champlev and Cloisonn enamel jewelry to our Cedar Creek family. Her work is simply beautiful and the process is fascinating. You will have the opportunity to visit her studio and talk with her each day of the festival.

The artists of Cedar Creek toil diligently all year to make new, exciting work. For the creativity to flow freely, we require solitude and focus in our studios. The festivals give us an opportunity to open our pottery and glass blowing studios and share our processes with you. This festival Brad Tucker, Tim Turner, Jennifer Stas, Pat Oakley, Sandra McEwen, Pringle Teetor, Dana Smith, Will Kurylo, Harrison Harper and I (Lisa Oakley) will open our studios for you to visit and see firsthand where we create our work. John Martin and Jeff Bottoms will be in the gardens. Visiting artists Alan Bennett, Julie Olson, Kerry Gonzalez, Geoff Lloyd, Deborah Harris, Evelyn Ward, Bill Wallace and Butch Burroughs will be demonstrating around the grounds as well. Please check the schedule of events for specific times.

We think you shouldn't stop having fun just because you're all grown up! So we created the Adult Egg Hunt. Adults (no kids allowed) search for eggs corresponding to at least 25 beautiful glass and pottery treasures. All this happens at 3pm, Sunday, April 10th, so come let out your inner kid. After forty years, the drives from both Durham and Raleigh to Cedar Creek Gallery just got a little easier. The NC Department of Transportation recently installed official road signs marking the way! These signs clearly show the turns well ahead of time, leaving you freer to enjoy the scenery along the drive.

For the Cedar Creek artists and all American craftspeople I thank you for your continued support.

I look forward to seeing you.

Lisa Oakley
